I am grateful for contrasting opinions and for the prospective atheists bring to the table. You raise some good points (when you aren't deliberately trying to be peevish, provocative or smug) and your insights, when politely stated, help to keep us honest. I agree with 95% of what you say and am glad you say it. But you are wrong about one little thing: you see, God does exist.
Sorry, atheists. You are bright people (and you try to make that clear at every turn--implying that religious people are morons or, at very least, gullible). But as smart as you are or or imagine yourselves to be, I simply don't believe you can get your heads around infinity. I can't. And that is where God comes in.
You often suggest that people turn to religion because of some psychological weakness. Tell me, do atheists live in a psychological vacuum? Are you utterly dispassionate, completely rational and totally free of personal baggage? Why so much anger?
Yes, religions can be primitive and cruel. So can atheists and atheism. Atheists and religious people can also be very good. Humans, believers and non believers can and do screw things up. But sometimes, we can get it right. I believe that. I think you do, too.
