Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Presbyterian party?
You wouldn't recognize the church of J. Edgar Hoover, James K. Polk, Andrew Jackson, Stonewall Jackson, George Armstrong Custer, John Wayne, Henry Ford, Robert McNamara, Dwight David Eisenhower, Woodrow Wilson, Dan Quayle and Melvin Laird. They seem to have changed from upper and middle class respectability into ... well, read on, comrade.
Yesterday, the Israel Palestine Mission Network (IPMN) an anti-Israel group within the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) was very excited to greet Communist Angela Davis. Davis, a former Communist Party (CPUSA) candidate for Vice President said "We cannot call for the end of anti-Semitism without calling for an end to the occupation of Palestine." This troubling statement seems to justify anti-Semitism.
Davis opposes the "occupation of Palestine," which presumably includes Tel Aviv. However, she supported the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia 1968.
The Presbyterian Church USA, once a Protestant mainstream denomination, has lost a third of its membership in the last decade. Although the acronyms are similar, the PCUSA and the CPUSA are not affiliated.
