I turned the Oscars off. It was one offensive routine after another. I wasn't impressed or amused. When I wasn't offended, I was bored.
On occasion most of us are susceptible to laughing at an offensive joke because it is well delivered and witty -- even if we might feel some shame afterward for the moral lapse. But the Oscars weren't even presented well. What is supposed to be the acme of entertainment professionalism seems so amateurish: from the puerile humor to the badly read citations by actors who looked like deer staring into headlights. I love the movies. Keep the Oscars.
