You just can't make this stuff up.
President Obama is *indignant* that while the U.S. was spying on Israel, it was learned that Israel was allegedly spying on the U.S. And he is especially furious that the intelligence was shared with the enemy (i.e. Congressional Republicans.)
Yiddish lesson: "chutzpah" is a Yiddish word, derived from Hebrew, which mean gall, nerve or "cheek." Example: the guy who kills his mother and father and pleads for mercy because he is an orphan.
To spy on an ally is no surprise. It happens all the time. But to spy and then wax indignant that your sneaky snoping allegedly revealed that your ally is spying on you, THAT is chutzpah.
Who is facing an existential threat here, Mr. President? Israel denies that it is spying. Maybe it is, and maybe it isn't. But basic statecraft demands that it knows what is happening regarding a very real threat. It would be kinda incompetent otherwise.
This gives a whole new meaning to the term "intelligence failure."
How about sharing data with your friends, Mr. President?
